Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday renamed Kadapa district as YSR district on the birth anniversary of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, who was popularly known by his initials. The state government issued a notification, renaming the native district of YSR.

మాజీ ముఖ్యమంత్రి వై.ఎస్.రాజశేఖరరెడ్డి 61వ జయంతి వేడుకలను అమెరికా, న్యూజెర్సీలోని థాంప్సన్ పార్కులో నిర్వహించ తలపెట్టారు. వై.ఎస్.రాజశేఖరరెడ్డి ఫౌండేషన్ ఆధ్వర్యంలో ఈ కార్యక్రమం జరగనున్నట్టు సోమవారం విడుదల చేసిన ఒక ప్రకటనలో పేర్కొన్నారు. జులై 11న ఆదివారం మధ్యాహ్నం 12 నుంచి 6 గంటల వరకు ఈ కార్యక్రమం జరుగుతుందని తెలిపారు.

P. Obul Reddy, industrialist, philanthropist and patron of the arts, passed away in Chennai on Wednesday ( 1ST July 2010) after a prolonged illness. He was 85 year old, and is survived by two sons and three daughters. P. Obul Reddy( Pottipati Obul Reddy) born in 1925 in a village Urlagattu Podu ( Pottipati Palli) of Railway kodur mandal of Kadapa district.
