New Delhi: “Whether we have or not have majority, we will like to say that those 24 MLAs have misunderstood the issue. We have no role in whatever happened there,” AICC general secretary and in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad told reporters here.
29 MLAs, including 24 from Congress, had resigned from the Andhra Pradesh assembly on Sunday, protesting inclusion of YSR’s name in the FIR filed by CBI in a probe into the assets of his son Jaganmohan Reddy.
“Of those who have resigned, 24 belong to Congress…We do not want them to resign. We want they remain in Congress. But as far as what you have said about the threat to the Congress government there, the party has majority even without those” Azad said.
“There is no role for the Congress party or the Centre or state government into all these. This is wrong to presume that all this is being done at the behest of Congress,” he said.
Azad pointed out that had probes been conducted at the behest of Congress, a central minister or a party MP would not have been in jail.
