Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday renamed Kadapa district as YSR district on the birth anniversary of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, who was popularly known by his initials. The state government issued a notification, renaming the native district of YSR.

The Rayachoti MLA, Mr Gadikota Sri-kanth Reddy, alleged that senior Congress leaders had no understanding of Jala-yagnam and were creating trouble only for political existence.Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, he alleged that those demanding a change in the design of the Polavaram project had no idea about irrigation projects.

There is the temple of sri Thretheswara swamy in the form of a stone sivalingam. This temple is picturesquely situated on the bank of the river Bahuda (Cheyyeru) on a hillock with a beautiful Kalyana mantapanm (marriage hall) and gali gopuram (tower). The hillock is known as Thretachalam on account of the manifestation of Threteswara swamy.
