A tense situation prevailed for a while at the Pulivendula police station on Sunday when the YSR Congress president and Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, staged a dharna in front of the police station protesting against the police highhandedness on his party activist.
According to sources, the traffic constable, Mr Tiru-malaiah, allegedly thrash-ed the YSR Congress activist, Mr Rahamatu-llah, for riding his two-wheeler in wrong route.
Mr Jagan, who returned to Pulivendula after concluding his Odarpu Yatra, came to know about the this.
He reached the police station along with hundreds of followers and staged a sit-in protest demanding action against the traffic police.
However, police did not pay attention to his protest and went outside.
After an hour, Mr Jagan received a phone call about the demise of former minister Jakkampudi Rammohan Rao and withdrew his protest. He went to Rajahmundry to console the bereaved family members.
