KADAPA, 17th Dec’09: Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, Kadapa MLC and brother of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who continued his fast-unto-death before Kadapa Collectorate for the third day on Thursday, demanded that the Central government make a categorical announcement in favour of united Andhra Pradesh, without any dilly dallying.
Mr. Reddy and Congress MLAs of Jammalamadugu and Rayachoti – Chadipiralla Adinarayana Reddy and Gadikota Srikanth Reddy – who launched an indefinite hunger strike today, said they have no faith in Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and wanted a categorical announcement by the Centre.
Ruling out withdrawal of the resignations of public representatives of Rayalaseema region, they hoped a favourable decision from the party leadership to end the stalemate.
They vowed to mount pressure on the high command to revise its decision. Along with the two MLAs, Kadapa district Mahila Congress president Alle Prabhavathi launched fast-unto-death while Badvel MLA P.M. Kamalamma staged relay fast before Kadapa Collectorate, expressing solidarity with Mr. Vivekananda Reddy.
Even as the fast-unto-death by former Congress MLA N. Varadarajulu Reddy at Proddatur entered the third day, Congress leader K.V. Ramana Reddy launched indefinite fast at Proddatur.
