The byelections for the Kadapa Parliamentary constituency and the Pulivendula Assembly constituency will be conducted before June 7. Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal has already written to the Election Commission of India (ECI) in this regard and bypolls will be conducted soon after receiving orders from the Commission.
The seats fell vacant after Kadapa former MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and his mother Vijayalakshmi resigned to their respective posts in December, 2010.
Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad today, Bhanwarlal said the Election Commission achieved 100 per cent coverage of Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) in Kadapa along with eight other districts in the State.
About 5.71 crore voters are named in the voters list published on January 5 as against the projected population of 8.37 crore in the State. The government intends to issue the EPICs for about 20 lakh voters marking the National Voters Day on January 25.
Further, people having objections over entries made in their EPICs and those who are seeking changes can approach the authorities concerned in this regard.
To streamline the issuance of EPICs and registering of names in the voters list, the government appointed 66,795 booth level officers apart from employing the services of about 16,000 post offices.
Voters can also approach nearby e- Seva centre or use e-registration facility for submitting their applications for voter IDs.
“The details in the applications will be verified within 15 days by inquiry officers and the EPICs will be provided within two weeks thereafter,” Bhanwarlal said.
